Thanks to Tyler Britt for help cataloging. Still missing by and large from this listing as well as my other listing of artist's books is the category of art periodicals and journals, some artist-produced, some regular trade. In general, any type of matter an art museum would generally not include in their art collection, but relegate to the library, if at all. I decided to also include in this listing items such as soundworks and videos by visual or performance artists. Sadly, I have not printed and archived email communications, the most common method for most of us. What both these categories of the materials share is their function as a physical gesture of communication. These are decidedly the more interesting materials. Having worked with many artists, and continuing to do so, I have received a lot of correspondence, been given many inexplicable and amusing items as thanks or markers of friendships. The invites, posters and brochures were collected because I was entrusted with someone else's collection of materials because they are interesting examples, problems or solutions or because I am invested in the space and/or the artist. The collection of exhibition materials is not comprehensive (to the best of my knowledge) for any one scene, space, artist, or type of work. It is assumed that the exhibition invites and posters are not of much interest except for some hard to imagine future scholar/researcher. ![]() Most of these items are not artworks, but some are. This lists the show invites, museum brochures, exhibition posters, self-produced posters and broadsheets, postcards, clothing, DVDs, mail art, knickknacks, LPs, scribbles, CDs and doodads presently in the collection of Anthony Elms as of March 25, 2008.
